Research And Development Facilities

IDEC has signed agreement with global drilling fluids manufacturer to work in co-operation not competition to develop mud system and product and utilize their MEA lab includes the technology centre in India. The Technology Centre located in India was built from the ground up to be the best drilling fluid testing facility. It is more than 20,000 ft2 with roughly 5,000 ft2 of laboratory. It serves as the main R&D centre along with regional technology centres.

The Technology Centre is the central point for the development of products, mud systems and customer support services, with the regional technical centres in Iraq, UAE, Egypt, and KSA, providing additional resources and support in these endeavors.

IDEC has developed a number of new products and fluid systems, to support the challenges associated with changing well conditions, technology, and field/well economics. The R&D group is actively working on projects in support of our drilling and completion fluids business. Our project portfolio aligns with our knowledge platforms of:

  • Drilling fluids
  • Wellbore management
  • Reservoir producibility
  • Environmental assurance

All regional labs that we utilize in the area provide technical support on all fluids related issues including environmental services and technical training. The extensive research and development program that IDEC invests in is spread across all three centres allowing for improved utilization of local materials, knowledge, equipment and talent.

The Research and development prime goal is to improve the technical, environmental, and economical performance of the existing drilling fluids, reservoir drill-in fluids, completion fluids and waste management services that IDEC offer today.

Also charged with developing and applying the technologies that will take our industry into the future, exceeding the technical, environmental, and economical goals being set by our customers. Within the regional labs and the research and development can be loosely divided into the following disciplines, where common facilities and regular interaction allow sharing of expertise and talent:

  • Drilling Fluids Product development
  • Drilling fluids product applications
  • Reservoir drill-in fluids
  • Completion fluids
  • Waste management engineering
  • Production chemistry

Implementation of New Technology and solving our customers’ fluids-related drilling and production problems is the charge of the Technical Services Group. This group has developed a multi-tier, team approach that lets the industry’s most experienced and skilled technology specialists work with IDEC to accomplish one objective.
IDEC have the equipment and staff needed to conduct all standard and virtually all non-standard testing on drilling, drill-in, and completion fluids. Our regional laboratories have equipment and staff to conduct all standard tests and many specialized tests.
All testing equipment are subject to programmed calibration and maintenance in accordance with documented procedures. Technical service laboratory project requests are entered, each project status tracked, lab test data logged, and lab reports generated using our database.
